New program! As part of the JPL exhibit this fall titled, “Survive To Thrive: Life Beyond Sexual Violence” in the Jax Makerspace, Women Writing for (a) Change will be offering three Saturday writing circles to explore the difficult topic of sexual abuse and how to use writing to transform trauma into resilience and hope.
We will use three important books as conversation starters—The Color Purple, Their Eyes Were Watching God, and The Handmaid’s Tale—to address the issues of toxic masculinity, the culture that shapes it, and how we can use the conscious feminine—and intentional writing—to rewrite the story of our own lives and the culture in which we live.
Using poetry, writing, sharing, and cross-talk, we will gently explore these topics and write our way to a more hopeful future for ourselves, our community, and our country. It is not necessary to read the books ahead of time, but we certainly recommend these powerful stories!
This program is facilitated by Jennifer Wolfe, owner of Women Writing for (a) Change, Jacksonville and certified journaling instructor. This coed program is open to all those who want to create a more positive world. Join us!
