Latest Anthology News

Each year, Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville publishes (a) river rising: Anthology of Women’s Voices—a powerful collection of original writing and visual art by women and girls. This annual publication is a celebration of creative expression, community, and the transformative power of women’s stories.

Our next volume—Vol. 8: Bodies and Faces—will be released at our annual Release Party on December 5, 2026. Submissions are now closed, and our editors are selecting and refining the pieces that speak most deeply to this year’s theme. Visit our Anthology page to learn more.

Testimonials

How writing in community is changing lives

“Take this class. Take it. Forget the rumblings of the mind—‘I can’t write.’ ‘I have nothing to say.’ ‘I’m unworthy.’ Click the button—YES. Let the love in this room envelop you, the authenticity of these women, circling ’round, pen in hand, uplift you. The “you” you may have forgotten or thought was venturing forth alone. The one who you promised to honor as a little girl. Yes, bring her. Bring a pen and let words flow to paper.”
