Acknowledgements

We acknowledge that our work in Jacksonville, Florida, takes place on the traditional lands of the Timucua, and we honor the Seminole and Miccosukee peoples whose histories and ongoing presence continue to shape this region. We commit ourselves to learning from Indigenous wisdom, recognizing the harms of colonization, and supporting the sovereignty and thriving of Indigenous communities. 

We also honor the Black communities of Jacksonville whose labor, culture, and creativity helped build this city, and we acknowledge the ongoing impacts of enslavement, segregation, redlining, and the systematic erasure of Black neighborhoods and histories. We commit to uplifting Black stories, supporting Black artists and writers, and working toward a more just and equitable community.
