We released her on December 6, 2024, at a fabulous Release Party! Photos HERE.

This large-scale painting depicts a woman reaching across an endless circular wave, striving to touch the water on the opposite side. She is centered within the circle, her whole being focused on that elusive connection. A luminous red light glows behind her, drawing the viewer’s eye from afar. The vision for this painting came to me in a dream in 2016, but its meaning only became clear seven years later. The woman reaches for ever-moving waters, yearning for permanence in a world that refuses to be still. This idea echoes the ancient words of the Greek philosopher Heraclitus: “Everything is ever moving, and nothing ever stays the same,” and “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river, and he is not the same man.”
Each moment arrives only once, flowing toward us and then away, impossible to hold. This cycle reminds us that in life, nothing can be fully grasped or preserved. Learning to let moments slip between our fingers keeps us attuned to the vast, continuous wave. And yet, we might wonder if something endures beyond the material world—perhaps a Source, the soul, or the constancy of life and death. Perhaps it is our own “red light,” always there, quiet and steadfast, beyond what is visible.

METAMORPHOSIS: The Art of (a) Change
(a) river rising Anthology, Vol. VI
In celebration of 10 years of Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville, our sixth annual anthology—METAMORPHOSIS: The Art of (a) Change—asks: Who were we then? Who are we now?
This powerful volume features the voices and visions of women and gender-diverse writers and artists exploring personal and collective transformation. From the ache of loss to the joy of discovery, the stories, poems, essays, and visual works within these pages illuminate the moments that shape us—resilience in the face of grief, growth through global upheaval, the quiet courage of spiritual awakening, and the enduring power of community.
Inspired by the Metamorphosis Art Exhibition (2023–2024), curated by Tatiana Phoenix, this anthology brings together work by featured visual artists—Sharon Goldman, Elena Ohlander, Anna Miller, Marsha Glazière, Nykia Jackson, Barbara Hionides, Maya Freeman, Julissa Marie, Deja Gee, and Dimelza Broche—other Jacksonville artists, and the many writers who have participated in our circles over the past year.
