“Poetry is a tool for disruption and creation and is necessary for generations of humans to know who they are and who they are becoming in the wave map of history. Without poetry, we lose our way.”

Your Voice Matters, Now More than Ever
We’re now accepting submissions for our 2025 anthology, (a) river rising: Anthology of Women’s Voices, Vol. VII. This year’s theme, Spaces and Places, invites you to reflect on the landscapes—inner and outer—that shape your life. Just one week left to submit!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO LATELY
Writing Retreat in the Cotswolds
Now We Awaken, As If from a Dream
Eight of us women just returned from our first international writing retreat, deeply grateful for such a beautiful experience.
We walked in the footsteps of Jane Austen in Bath, spotted birds and feathers in the fields of a manor house in Frampton-on-Severn, and enjoyed high tea in the gardens of none other than King Charles. The entire time, an ancestor of the robin from The Secret Garden (IYKYK) followed us around and cheered us on. The scenery was gorgeous, the company excellent—and the writing circles extraordinary.
We’re already planning the next retreat—Italy, we hope—in partnership with our dear friend Heather at Casa Erica Travel. So keep us in mind, and we’ll give you all “the tea” soon! Get on our “interested” list by emailing us here.

FALL CLASSES UP NEXT!

We’d love to see you in one of our fall classes! Our Fall Sampler is next, including a free ticket for anyone who needs it. We’ll be using the book Dear Writer by Maggie Smith as one of our source texts, subtitled “Pep talks and practical advice for the creative life.” More classes posting soon, including ones from our newest Con Fem leadership group. Learn more here.
The Last Word
“What we write down is what we remember. It’s like a time capsule in a way. A lifeline back to the best parts of ourselves. A little popcorn trail of words we can follow so that we never lose sight of the path we’re on.”
