Radical Revision Can Elevate Your Work
Please join us for the first of our Empowered Writing series of workshops, this one focusing on poetry, starting this Thursday, June 27, from 7-9 p.m. via Zoom.
As we turn our focus to the Anthology this summer, collecting submissions and working through the editing process, we want you to have the tools you need to take your poetry and prose to their best possible form. Whether you’re new to the submissions process or a veteran, this program will invite you to consider your writing with new eyes.
This workshop will be led by poet, teacher, and Women Writing for (a) Change facilitator Anna K. Jacobson, with insights from Kristin Holliday Kessler, author and developmental editor, both of whom will be serving on our Anthology Editorial team this year.
Shape Your Work to Its Finest Form
This session will consist of strategies to play with your poetry drafts and find ways to make your ideas shine through clearly. The goal is to help you shape your poetry to be submitted—ready for our anthology or any other publication. In this two-hour Zoom workshop, you’ll work in large and small groups to hone your skills as rigorous, compassionate—and empowered—editors of your own work.
Deadline Coming Soon for Anthology Submissions
Writers and artists, the submissions deadline is July 15. The theme is Metamorphosis: Then and Now. You can find out more here: SUBMIT.
Meanwhile, hope to see you for Radical Revision this Thursday. Register HERE for this class and others.
Cheers,

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO LATELY
Documenting the Book Festival
We so enjoyed presenting the Author Showcase and Book Festival on June 1, and received many positive comments: “So many people attended”; ”The venue was perfect and perfectly set up inside—spacious yet intimate at the same time”; “Always a wonderful group of women and community feel”; “[Enjoyed] the variety of people and writing.” We’re so glad, and so appreciate all the authors, artists, vendors, collaborators, and volunteers who made it possible…especially Rebel Readers, CoRK Art Studios, our bookstore panelists, Jennifer Chase and Holly Decardenas, and our sponsors. Thank you to all! Now please enjoy these lovely shots from photographer Satara Hall-Murray. More photos on our Facebook page!—JW
