“I still believe we are capable of attention, that anyone who notices the world must want to save it.” —Rebecca Baggert

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO LATELY
Wine, Women, and Words In the Garden What a joy it was to be back together in person, celebrating rivers, women’s leadership, and women’s creative expression at this event—not to mention the return of the fabulous lavender cake made by AvesBaking! Grateful to Nancy Powell of Riverfront Parks Now and artist/environmental educator Abby Howard Murphy for showing us how ordinary human beings (like them, like you) can make a big difference. Learn the facts. Reduce your footprint. Listen to women.

The Last Word
“What a lovely illusion!
An old car tire, a mossy mattress,
a shopping cart strewn on the river’s bank.
The drone of a leaf blower interrupts.
And the river says, ‘Hush!’
We have a time limit.
We are on notice.
And the river says, ‘Quick, quick before it’s too late!’”
—Nancy Kysela, Fall Series writer (excerpt, found poem)
