Please join us for our Fall Series 2017 as we explore Writing the Memoir, from Truth to Fiction, here at Women Writing for (a) Change, Jacksonville.
In this Fall Series, we’ll use Judith Barrington’s book to dive deep into memoir writing, whether to document our own personal stories for ourselves, for loved ones, or for publishing.
We’ll also explore other texts and techniques on memoir writing, and experiment with graphic memoir as well as a board game that helps you document your family’s personal stories.
The Fall Series meets weekly start August 30 on Wednesday nights for 12 weeks, through Nov. 15, culminating in our Public ReadAround on Dec. 2, 2017.
You don’t have to be a professional writer to join in. Use this class to find out more about the amazing process used by thousands of women across the country to express their authentic selves through writing and community-building. We’ll use prompts, poetry and prose to practice many different writing techniques.

“A circle of women may be the most powerful force known to humanity. If you have one, embrace it. If you need one, seek it. If you find one, for the love of all that is good and holy, Dive in. Hold on. Love it up. Get naked. Let them see you. Let them hold you. Let your reluctant tears fall. Let yourself rise fierce and love great. You will be changed. The very fabric of your Being will be altered by this. If you allow it. Please, allow it.”
