SUMMER WORKSHOP
Radical Revision: Poetry Series
Shape Your Story, Sharpen Your Voice
This three-part workshop series—led by veteran poet and Women Writing for (a) Change facilitator Anna K. Jacobson—is designed to help you refine your poems and prepare them for publication, just in time for the upcoming Anthology call for submissions!
Whether you’re a seasoned poet or new to the submissions process, this workshop invites you to see your writing with fresh eyes. Maybe you’re head over heels for your first draft and believe every word is perfectly placed—or perhaps you have a strong draft that isn’t quite expressing your ideas. And when feedback comes with “suggested edits,” how do you know which changes will truly strengthen your work?
In Radical Revision: Poetry, you’ll explore creative strategies to reimagine your drafts, sharpen your ideas, and bring clarity to your voice. Through a mix of small- and large-group activities, you’ll develop the tools of a rigorous yet compassionate self-editor. The goal: to make your poetry submission-ready—for our Anthology or any publication opportunity you pursue.
Important: Please prepare one or two drafts of poems you’d like to revise to the first session. Join us to hone your craft, deepen your process, and empower your voice—we look forward to writing with you!
Facilitator: Anna K. Jacobson, poet and teacher
Open to: Anyone who identifies as a woman
Format: Online, via Zoom

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO LATELY
ConFem Leadership Program
New Cohort of Facilitators Planning Fall Programs
Our latest cohort of facilitators has just completed a four-month journey of learning and growth.
Through a series of retreats and circles, they honed the art of holding space for others, refined their creative visions through agenda development, and deepened their understanding of building community through writing and circle practices (including candle-making, flower-arranging, and weeding plants at Eartha’s Farm and Market!).
Led by Tru Leverette Hall and Jennifer Wolfe, this cohort of the Conscious Feminine Leadership Training Program—Olivia Vo, Katie Anagnostou, and Autumn Rutherford—will begin offering their own circles this fall.
Look for their classes to be posted soon! Explore all upcoming classes and events here.

FSCJ ART RECEPTION

We had a beautiful Art Reception at FSCJ Kent Campus, featuring the art and artists of our latest Anthology. Great work here by Myah Freeman on family lineage, and many thanks to Micoel Fuentes for the thoughtful installation. More photos on Insta: @womenwritingjax. Anthology submissions for the next volume opens June 1!
The Last Word
“In every block of marble I see a statue as plain as though it stood before me, shaped and perfect in attitude and in action. I have only to hew away the rough walls that imprison the lovely apparition to reveal it to the other eyes as mine see it.”
