“The first service one owes to others in a community involves listening to them.”

READAROUND SUNDAY
Come Hear a Chorus of Voices
In a gift economy, sharing your story is the gold
As we continue exploring the gift economy that Robin Wall Kimmerer describes in “The Serviceberry,” we invite you to receive—and share—the gifts of our words.
Join us this Sunday for a Public ReadAround featuring writers from all of our spring classes, including those who took part in our joyful Bookstore Crawl.
We’ll gather among the artwork of the Spaces and Places Exhibition (closing on Mother’s Day) to read pieces inspired by the themes of place and transformation—of travels and inner journeys, of loss and renewal, of the rooms and landscapes that shape our lives.
It’s a beautiful way to spend a Sunday afternoon—strengthening the bonds of community through the sacred, powerful act of listening.
We hope you’ll join us.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO LATELY
Bookstore Crawl a Smashing Success!
4 weeks • 6 bookstores • 100% joy
Throughout April, we invited folks to slow down and follow the “snail trail”—a month-long journey of writing circles held in local bookstores, offered as a gift to our community. In times of turbulence, we believe the antidote—and our shared responsibility—is to listen deeply and honor each other’s stories.
We’re incredibly grateful to the mostly women-owned bookstores who welcomed us so warmly: San Marco Books, Happy Medium Books, Chamblin’s Uptown, Café Resistance, Femme Fire Books (host of the lively Book Club Fair!), and The Literary Lounge Jax.
A heartfelt thank you to our inspiring facilitators—Karen Allen, Julie Williams, Tru Leverette Hall, and Mary Moore—and to the amazing support team of Autumn Rutherford, Erica Saffer, Katie Anagnostou, Barbara Olson, and “snail trail” concept designer, Olivia Vo. And, of course, thank you to our writers!
Join us this Sunday for the Public ReadAround to hear some of the writing that emerged and keep the community spirit going.

The Last Word
“…community is first of all a quality of the heart. It grows from the spiritual knowledge that we are alive not for ourselves but for one another.”
