Going to the Well: Writing for Inspiration and Self-Care

**Cross post with Jax Public Library’s Writer’s Lab**

Whether you are an experienced writer or are interested in finding your voice through writing, finding the inspiration to write can get bogged down in your goals for your work, schedule demands, or your expectations or insecurities. Take some time for yourself and explore the use of a writing circle as a means of setting other tasks aside, and simply write together in community. The use of poetry and prose as prompts will encourage your mind to roam freely, sparking new ideas and a depth of expression within you that becomes a potent means of self-care. And sharing your words in community together becomes a source for new and potent inspiration.

About the Presenter: Mary Kendrick Moore holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Georgia and her Master of Divinity from the Southern Seminary. Every aspect of her career has been marked by her love of writing, teaching, and mentoring others during life’s critical transitions. She loves the weaving together of words, both for personal self-expression and to encourage others to engage in practices that bring nurture and foster empowerment. She is most inspired through the intersections of music, art and nature. She is a writer and a certified facilitator through Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville.

Mary Kendrick Moore presents a 90 minute hands on workshop where participants will practice using poetry and prose as prompts for inspiration and self-care.
